Every year ALAS celebrates Christmas and culture with our annual Noche en Mexico show in December. Noche en Mexico is a celebration that not only includes performances from our amazing ALAS participants but food, art and crafts, as well as celebration of community. The ALAS performing arts participants spent the fall semester working hard at perfecting their talents to make the show possible. The show highlighted our amazing ballet Folklorico Tonantzin and our amazing Mariachi Media Luna group! These two groups have grown so much since ALAS began. The pride shown in their performances is beautiful and something that ALAS strives for. The newest ALAS group, Corazones de Oro, stole the audience's heart at the show. The lovely Half Moon Bay seniors have dedicated their mondays to participating in arts, crafts, music, and more. They prepared two songs to sing at Noche en Mexico, bringing smiles to the crowd. The show would not have been possible without the help of our arts director Zenon Barron and the ALAS parents. They put their heart and soul into organizing and preparing the show.
The vibrant colors, decorations, and food turned Half Moon Bay high school into Mexico. Various ALAS moms dedicated their time to hand making delicious meals for everyone to enjoy such as tacos, tortas, nachos, quesadillas, tamales, and many desserts. The MU was decorated with papel picado and beautiful artwork from ALAS’ art students. Nacho Moya has worked hard to share his talent and bring joy to the youth through art. Noche en Mexico has always been an amazing tradition that brings together our community through culture.
